Lioness rescued from 50-feet-deep well after 12 hours

RAJKOT: Following a 12-hour-long battle, rescuers on Wednesday managed to convey out a lioness from 50-feet-deep neatly in Dhoklva village of Gir Gadhda taluka in Gir Somnath district.

The eight-year-old lioness has been despatched to Jasadhar animal care middle for additional treatment. The animal had fallen into the neatly on Tuesday night time.


According to forest division officials, they won the call on Tuesday night time in regards to the incident. A crew of forest officers reached to the spot and introduced the rescue work.


Assistant Conservator of Forest, Nikunj Parmar instructed TOI, "We started to pump out the water at five o'clock within the morning and it took almost 5 hours. Thereafter a crew went inside and tranquilised the animal and saved her.”


The lioness might be released within the forest after treatment said forest division.
