Mangaluru: Organs of brain dead bus conductor donated

MANGALURU: Cadaver organ retrieval from a 32-year-old guy, who succumbed to head injuries was successfully conducted via a city sanatorium on Thursday. Harinaksha M, a bus conductor from Mangilapadavu, Bantwal taluk, was brought to A J Hospital on December 31 with head injuries after a fall from motorcycle on the similar day at Subramanya. Later, he was declared brain lifeless on January 2.


Soon after finding out about the brain demise, a crew at A J Hospital swung into motion and approached Harinaksha’s family members for organ donation to which the family agreed with out a lot lengthen.


Dr Prashanth Marla K, scientific director and transplant surgeon of A J Hospital & Research Centre, mentioned the organ retrieval process was began at 4am on Thursday. Retrieved organs had been distributed as according to Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka (ZCCK) directive.


Liver and middle valves were taken to Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, one kidney to KMC, Mangaluru, corneas and different kidney to A J Hospital. The A J Hospital ambulance with retrieved liver and middle valves left the sanatorium premises at 7.30am to Mangalore International Airport, he mentioned.


Harinaksha is survived via father Sanjeeva Poojary - an agriculturist, mom - a house maker, and 5 siblings.
