Coimbatore: The Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu, an NGO that has been engaging in lake cleaning and preservation drives in the city weekly, would soon set up a herbal garden at Vellalore tank. Around 50 volunteers on Sunday ready the tank bunds for the same and the herbal garden could be set up subsequent Sunday.
R Manikandan, the organizer of the forum, stated they have got identified round 100 herbs and medicinal vegetation, which can be utilized in siddha medicine, to be planted alongside the tank bund. Some of the species are mudakkathan, vasambu, kuppaimeni, karpooravalli, thulasi, karisalankanni, aloevera, keezhanelli, vallarai, pirandai and manathakkali.
The forum has already set up two Miyawaki patches, with round 2,000 timber, he stated.
The forum had helped other folks of Karuppampulam in Nagapattinam with supplies when the village used to be hit badly via the cyclone Gaja in November 2018. As a token of gratitude, Karuppampulam other folks have despatched palmyra sprouts, snake gourds, bottle gourds and candy pumpkin to the forum, that have been distributed among the volunteers.
