Ward boy films woman patient changing clothes, held

PUNE: The Koregaon Park police have arrested a ward boy of a personal sanatorium on Sassoon Road for allegedly the use of his mobile phone for filming a lady affected person while she used to be changing garments in a room adjoining to the health hub’s MRI centre on Saturday night.

“She used to be admitted to the sanatorium as an indoor affected person 4 days in the past with serious abdomen pain. The sanatorium doctors examined her on Saturday afternoon and instructed her a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan,” a police officer said.

The FIR lodged by the woman’s husband mentioned that following the doctor’s recommendation, she went to the MRI segment.

The ward boy, later identified by the police as Lakesh Lahu Uttekar (25), directed her to the changing room while delivering the sanatorium apparels to her.

The lady went to the room and as she used to be changing garments, she saw a mobile phone on a table, the FIR mentioned. She checked the phone and used to be surprised to appreciate that its video digital camera used to be lively and had recorded her actions, it added.

“The lady raised an alarm. The couple then contacted senior sanatorium officers and dialled 100 for police lend a hand. A police team reached the sanatorium round nine.30pm and arrested ward boy Uttekar of Dhanori later within the night,” Koregaon Park police senior inspector Madan Bahaddarpure said.

“As the woman used to be admitted to the sanatorium, her husband lodged the grievance,” Bahaddarpure informed TOI, adding that the police have seized the phone for additional investigations.

A free up issued by the sanatorium on Sunday read: “The ward boy is not at the rolls of the sanatorium but is from the housekeeping group of workers sub-contracted from a personal company. We will take stern action towards the company concerned, terminating the contract and advise different hospitals as a precaution towards such acts by its workers.”

It added, “The ward boy violated the status order related to cell phones throughout the MRI area. The minute the affected person in question raised the worry, he used to be held by our security group of workers and passed over to the police. We all the time put our sufferers first. We have an absolute 100% no-tolerance policy. We have apologized to the affected person and will do our absolute best in co-operating with the police within the case.”
