SURAT: A 30-year old woman was mowed down via a bus of Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) at Mora Bhagal on Adajan-Rander direction right here on Saturday. The woman had entered the BRTS lane from Mora Bhagal side and was crossing it to head towards Paritosh Hospital when the bus ran over her.
Hema Vishal Maru, a nurse, lived at Sarang Nagar behind Paritosh Hospital, Mora Bhagal. She was rushed to Lifeline Hospital but docs declared her lifeless. She was killed at the spot, stated a police officer of Rander police station.
“Hema had entered the lane in the course of the barricades, fending off the proper place for crossing of the street. She was in a hurry and not mindful in regards to the bus coming from the opposite side. The driving force too didn’t see her and the bus was in speed,” the police officer added.
The driving force had escaped from the spot leaving the bus behind. However, bus driving force Jyotish Bhangora, 29, a resident of Kosad, was soon arrested. He has been booked for inflicting loss of life via negligence. An inquiry is also being carried out via Surat Municipal Corporation into the twist of fate. The bus contractor is anticipated to do so against him as soon as the inquiry report is submitted to the government involved, resources stated.
BRTS was introduced within the town 30 months ago. At least, 180 injuries involving BRTS buses have taken place throughout the duration. Around 40 folks have died in those injuries, resources stated.
