2,000 school magazines go digital

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the Little KITES initiative through Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) in schools, magazines of round 2,000 schools have been printed on-line.

The digital magazines had been prepared and printed in schools from January 19 to 21 as a mark of appreciate to renowned creator Vaikom Muhammad Basheer on his birthday on January 19. The magazines may also be accessed over the 'Digital Magazine' hyperlink in School Wiki portal (www.schoolwiki.in) or through the internet portal www.dm18.kite.kerala.gov.in.


School Wiki, the biggest and maximum complete content material repository among all regional languages in India, features the entire literary works of scholars from over 15,000 schools in the state, from 2017 onwards.


In addition, the home page of School Wiki, magazines also are available in the internet pages of the respective schools, with the thumbnail symbol of the cover page, said KITE vice-chairman & government director Okay Anvar Sadath.


Language Computing is a major part in the Little KITES training activities, and as part of this Malayalam typing and Word processing are being taught to students. The magazines had been prepared the usage of Libre Office phrase processor which is a whole FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) based application. Similar FOSS programs equivalent to Gimp and Inkscape had been used to create pictures for the magazines.
