Belagavi: Belagavi Zilla Kannada Sanghatanegala Kriya Samiti has hostile the government’s proposal of bifurcating Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) headquartered in Belagavi.
Samiti president Ashok Chandaragi demanded that the proposal be dropped in an instant. “VTU in Belagavi is a results of the combat of Kannada organizations in the 80s. In 1997-98 then CM JH Patel established the university to focus on North Karnataka region,” he stated.
Chandaragi stated no university in the state has been bifurcated so far. There is indisputably the proposal has been positioned to offer a bonus to south Karnataka and especially Hassan district. If the similar yardstick is carried out to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Ramnagara, then a similar health varsity must be established in North Karnataka too,” he stated.
