Nagpur: Even as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has began collecting Gypsy and information fee on-line to check manipulation of bookings, the transfer has are available in for stiff opposition from guides and Gypsy owners’ affiliation.
From February 1, vacationers are paying Gypsy and information charges on-line in conjunction with entry fee. The decision was once carried out after a meeting on January 20 at Agarzari between TATR officers and additional leader secretary (ACS) Praveen Pardeshi while discussing tourism problems.
For bookings sooner than 120 days, now vacationers will have to pay a lumpsum amount of Rs7,050 on week days and Rs11,050 on Saturdays and Sundays according to safari. Similarly, bookings sooner than 60 days will value Rs4,050 on week days and Rs5,050 on Saturdays and Sundays. The charges include Rs2,700 against Gypsy and Rs350 for information fee. For buffer, vacationers will have to pay Rs3,150.
The guides and Gyspy owners associations have said the fresh transfer will affect tourism to a big extent as vacationers will have to pay huge amount prematurely. Earlier, guides and Gyspy fee needed to be paid after taking part in the safari.
TATR field director NR Praveen is, alternatively, positive. He says, guides and Gypsy charges can be deposited in respective financial institution accounts of guides and car owners.
“The decision will test manipulations by way of a section of resort owners and tour operators who used block entries in bulk and later cancel them owing to non-availability of potential customers, thus depriving alternative to authentic vacationers,” says Praveen.
He adds, “This will also be gauged from the fact that when you opt for on-line bookings, the web site presentations 100% bookings but if truth be told lesser selection of automobiles enter the park. So, we wish to plug those loophole by way of paying all charges on-line. It also saves time for vacationers while coming into the park.”
Praveen said the transfer has already helped test bulk bookings. “If you guide now, there are entries available even all the way through height season of April and May. Earlier, no bookings had been available until 4 months,” he said.
“There can be some preliminary hick-u.s.in imposing the system as at this time vacationers have booked entries either two months or 4 months in advance. Those reserving tickets after February 1 will have to pay information and Gypsy charges on-line,” said Praveen.
“Whether vacationers have paid information and Gypsy charges can be simply identified from the tickets and if no longer paid those charges can be recovered at the gate,” said Praveen.
The field director said, “We have requested 300-odd guides and 200 Gypsy owners/drivers to open account in a nationalized financial institution in order that cash is transferred of their respective account each seven or 10 days.”
The Maharashtra Guides Association (MGA) has adverse the transfer. Anil Tiwade, president of MGA, said, “We’ve called a meeting of guides at Nagpur on February 15. The Adivasi Gram Vikas Tourists Guides and Wildlife Protection Samiti has already submitted a memorandum opposing it. The guides have also demanded hike in fee to Rs400.”
“We don’t see any merit in the new scheme. It is the park that will benefit by means of passion on huge cash coming from complicated bookings. Secondly, no cash can be paid to Gypsy owners and guides in case vacationers don’t turn up,” said Tiwade.
Praveen says, “When guides have no longer labored or Gypsy has no longer entered the park how are we able to pay? This cash can be utilized for the welfare of locals or guides.”
Sanjay Mankar, president of Gypsy Ecotourism Welfare Society, too adverse the transfer. “We have sought a meeting with field director on the contentious factor. There isn't any clarity. We can be paid after 10 days but we will’t look forward to bills against car maintenance and gasoline. It is a hand-to-mouth employment for many drivers and guides and owners too,” he said.
Mankar added there is not any nationalized financial institution or ATM in the area and stakeholders will have to either pass to Chimur or Chandrapur to withdraw cash.
Praveen says, “An ATM is bobbing up at Mohurli soon.”
However, Mankar said, “We have been hearing about ATM for 4 years now. The turn aspect is that it is going to be difficult for heart elegance vacationers to pay in bulk and can affect tourism.”
Resort owners welcomed the verdict as they feel they'll no longer need to maintain records of automobiles and guides now. “The guides and drivers gets cash in bulk and they can assume of a few investments or can even get loans considering their financial institution statements. It will even encourage savings. Besides, now blockading of bulk bookings in core and buffer can be curbed,” said a resort proprietor in Kolara.
TATR native advisory committee (LAC) member Yogesh Dudhpachare said, “Once again, LAC was once no longer taken into self assurance while taking the sort of an important decision. Stakeholders had been also disregarded.”
