“I met Diwakar in 1957 after I had just moved into the school hostel. He taught me Hindi and we discussed languages at period. Fundamentally, we're both poles apart — he is a quiet and complex gentleman, while I am all notches mischievous. We never exchanged presents, don’t gossip, never in point of fact bonded over food but our bond just stayed. Today, we're at that degree in lifestyles where we don’t have to talk to each other at all times, but we all know that we're just there, no questions requested. Even after us, this bond will still be there,” he stated.
Talking about Paranjape, the playwright stated, “In the numerous years that I have identified him, we have now best met for a couple of occasions, that too on social platforms. He had first of all written a favorable overview of one in all my plays and that is how we met. He is one of the most well-read person I have come across and the one person I do know who has an excellent sharp reminiscence.”
“Time does now not make a decision who your actual friends are, this is a seedling that grows and nourishes with time,” Elkunchwar stated.
Thanking the organizers and Elkunchwar, Paranjape stated, “Mahesh spoke very fondly lately, but sadly I don't have any one to go and inform this to.”
Paranjape spoke about his love for languages. “I never formally studied Marathi, but it surely never left me. My English professor used to mention that he who does now not read and write literature in his mother tongue can never in point of fact write in another language. So, even if I got a Master’s degree in English, Marathi will always be with regards to my heart.”
On behalf of Diwakar Mohini, his son delivered the acceptance speech. “I can endlessly be indebted to the folks of this town for serving to me succeed in where I am lately,” he stated quoting his father.
