RANCHI: The income tax (I-T) department will release a pressure towards tax evasion and bogus refunds even because the organisation is striving to collect Rs 14,700 crore as taxes from the Bihar-Jharkhand region for the 2018-19 financial yr.

Principal chief commissioner of income tax (PCCIT) Kailash Chandra Ghumaria on Friday the dept has detected numerous salaried other folks have claimed HRA exemption in a wrongful approach to evade paying taxes.


Ghumaria said the I-T department could also be exploring different areas for reinforcing tax collections in a bid to meet its annual target. He added that the dept has initiated motion towards those that claimed bogus refunds. “We have identified round 1,400 other folks thus far, with most offenders being from Ranchi and Ramgarh. FIRs had been lodged towards the ones indulging in fraud via submitting bogus returns,” he said.


“We have made up our minds to take action towards 179 routine evaders who have refused to record I-T returns despite several alternatives.


Ghumaria knowledgeable that the dept has accumulated Rs 8,400 crore as taxes from Bihar and Jharkhand region thus far. “We hope to reach Rs nine,000 crore via the top of February,” he added.
