Hunger strike: Nalini's mother moves high court

CHENNAI: The mother of Rajiv Gandhi assassination life convict Nalini Sriharan has approached the Madras high court in search of to avoid wasting her daughter and son-in-law Murugan, who are these days looking at an indefinite hunger strike in Vellore Central Prison hard their and five other convicts’ early free up.

Moving the plea as a habeas corpus petition, Nalini's mother S Padma sought after the government to take rapid steps and save her daughter and her husband who are on a quick unto dying.


According to Naini's lawyer P Pugazhendi, that they had made up our minds to go on a hunger strike as Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit was once but to answer the state cupboard’s resolution in September recommending the discharge of the seven life convicts in the case. The other convicts are T Suthendraraja alias Santhan, Jayakumar, Robert Payas, Ravichandran and A G Perarivalan.


On September 9, the state cupboard recommended the convicts’ free up after the Supreme Court asked the Tamil Nadu governor to consider Perarivalan’s mercy petition.


The plea is perhaps taken up for listening to on Friday.
