GORAKHPUR: An afternoon after video of a tender interfaith couple being assaulted through a mob in Baidoula village of Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district went viral on social media, police booked 25 folks on Wednesday for inflicting harm and prison intimidation after the youth filed a criticism.
Police mentioned 20-year-old Rajesh (name modified) of Siddharthnagar's Barhara village was once having an affair with a woman of the similar age in his village. However, their families weren't ready to accept the relationship as the girl was once a Muslim while Rajesh belonged to a Scheduled Caste (SC). After their objection, the couple had started dwelling in combination in a rented accommodation in the village.
On Monday, the couple left the village in combination for an unknown destination. On Tuesday morning after they got down from a bus at Baidoula crossing, a mob passed lewd comments and assaulted them with none provocation. The accused finally launched the couple after some citizens intervened. The attack was once filmed through a passerby, who uploaded the video on social media.
On Wednesday, Rajesh filed a criticism with Domariaganj Police against 25 unidentified folks for the attack. Domariaganj SHO Pradeep Kumar Singh mentioned, "An FIR has been registered against the 25 accused under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC."
