MSU mulls centre for genome engineering

Vadodara: M S University’s Faculty of Science is thinking about to set up a Centre for Precise Genome and Metabolic Editing with the toughen of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

The faculty sought toughen from DAE for setting up the centre of excellence right through the visit of Dr Kamlesh Vyas, the highest scientist, who's secretary of DAE and chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission.

“Dr Kamlesh Vyas had held a gathering with all of the senior professors and head of departments of our college right through his visit to the city when he used to be here for attending the once a year convocation ceremony of our college as chief guest,” said professor Haribhai Kataria, dean of Faculty of Science.

“There is an urgent want to determine the centre to improve and connect discovery research, proportion concepts and information by means of researchers from other biological and other science disciplines all to supply very good elementary and applied research, generate human resource and develop the world of personalised medicine,” he said.

“Our faculty possesses the desired strength and experience to run such a centre which will probably be unique in the entire nation as it will involve multi-disciplinary research,” he said.
