Jewellery worth Rs 4L stolen from engineer's home

NOIDA: Burglars struck once more within the town, this time concentrated on the home of a device engineer in a gated society in Sector 21 on Thursday. They allegedly made off with jewelry value over Rs four lakh. Though a criticism has been filed, an FIR may now not be lodged as the Sector 20 police station's server was down, officers said.
The miscreants had entered Himadri Laha's ground-floor house after reducing the iron bolt of its main door, when he was away at paintings whilst his spouse and kids have been out of the city. Laha discovered the robbery after coming back from place of business round 10.30 pm.

"When I returned from work, I found that the bolt of the house had been cut and our belongings were scattered on the floor. I contacted a neighbour immediately who called the society's guards. Subsequently, we dialled 100 and a police team arrived," he informed TOI.

Himadri said the wooden almirah, the place gold and silver embellishes value about Rs four lakh have been stored, was additionally damaged. "The stolen items included four gold necklaces, two rings, two bangles and one gold bar, and some silver ornaments belonging to my one-year-old son," he said.

Himadri said his spouse and child are currently of their native district of Burdwan in West Bengal. "They went in the last week of November and were supposed to return within a month. So, we did not deem it fit to travel with the jewellery in the train and hence, the ornaments were kept locked in the almirah," he said.


Though Himadri went to the Sector 20 police station round 10 am on Friday, no FIR has been lodged as the police station's server was down.


"I waited at the police station for one-and-a-half hours. Two cops arrived around 11.30 am and took my complaint. They said that since the police station's server was down, they would not be able to lodge an FIR and asked me to come on Saturday," he said.


Sector 20 SHO Rajvir Chauhan said on Friday, "A copy of the FIR will be handed over to the complainant on Saturday."
