NEW DELHI: In any other shocking incident of animal cruelty, a 58-year-old man was once arrested for flogging stray canine in his area with a stick, severely injuring one in west Delhi’s Ramesh Nagar. The incident was once captured by way of a CCTV digital camera of the locality following which motion was once taken.
Senior police officers said that the accused has been recognized as Harjinder Singh and he has been booked for sections relating maiming or killing of animals of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Kirti Nagar police station.
The incident was once reported when the honorary district animal welfare officer, Vikram Kochhar, submitted a complaint to the cops in regards to the incident. In his complaint, Kochhar mentioned that Singh had overwhelmed a stray canine in his locality in Ramesh Nagar.
“The canine got grievously injured and the scientific report proves the similar,” Kocchar said in his commentary to the police. A CCTV footage, which captured the incident, was once also submitted to the cops.
The video, accessed by way of TOI, presentations that the incident took place on January 31. In the footage, the accused is seen roaming out of doors his house with a rod even as the canine move away. The footage presentations the canine operating away after being hit by way of Singh.
Subsequently, any other video presentations the accused arguing together with his neighbours, who were reportedly taking good care of the stray canine and used to provide food to them.
After the incident, the officials of the Animal Welfare Board were contacted, who took the injured canine to a close-by veterinary clinic where he was once operated upon for the injuries. The scientific report has also been passed over to the cops for investigation.
Investigating teams have checked the video and had known as Singh to join in the probe. The teams are also recording the statements of the neighbours in regards to the incident.
