MSEDCL engineer held for bribery in Pune

PUNE: The State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an assistant engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for allegedly not easy and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor to liberate his cost at Nasrapur on the Pune–Satara highway.

The contractor lodged a criticism with the ACB on Tuesday morning and the lure used to be laid the same afternoon. The assistant engineer, Sachin Raghunath Pawar (37) walked into the lure. ACB registered a case in opposition to Pawar with the Rajgad police station.


According to ACB, the complainant is a contractor of MSEDCL. The MSEDCL offered him a freelance of transferring electricity poles and installing electricity meters.


The contractor shifted the poles and also installed the electricity meters in final couple of months. The MSEDCL office situated at Nasrapur used to be meant to issue cheque in favour of the contractor for the work finished.


However, so as to clear his pay cheques the assistant engineer demanded the bribe of Rs 10,000. A staff headed via superintendent of police, ACB, Sandeep Diwan and additional superintendent of police Suhas Nadgouda arrested Pawar.


Diwan said that the officer used to be harassing the contractor for last few days via delaying his cost. When contractor demanded his cost, Pawar put forth his demand for money.
