Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) in affiliation with the MahaMetro will open a newly built street connecting Wardha street with Ajni railway station sq. for the general public on February 22. The street starts from junction of Wardha street and VIP street before Rahate Colony sq. and ends on the sq. of Ajni railway over bridge and railway station street.
Former mayor and corporator Pravin Datke held a gathering of NMC officials on Wednesday and directed the officials to verify of entirety of all works on the street through February 21.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and union minister Nitin Gadkari will jointly inaugurate the road.
The street was proposed in city’s development plan and may well be developed handiest after directives of Gadkari to revise Metro Rail corridor to Ajni railway station to Wardha street as a substitute of the earlier proposal of constructing it on the street connecting Rahate Colony sq. and Congress Nagar sq..
The Metro Rail corridor and street have arise on land beneath the ownership of Central Jail.
The street with a duration of 1km and width of 30 meter comprises of all varieties of amenities. As it is located between Central Jail’s premises, a compound wall with a top of 2 meter has been built on each side of the road. Footpath, typhoon water drain, road-divider and side road lights were ensured on this tar street. Just like Wardha street, Metro Rail corridor can be in centre of the road.
In the meeting, Datke also directed the NMC officials to complete all programs of Rs324 crore- Cement Concrete Road undertaking phase-II aside from one bundle on or before September 15.
Announced in December 2014, the undertaking’s bhoomipuja was carried out in March 2016. Deadline for of entirety of the undertaking was 11 months. As of this date, 70% of the works were completed.
