Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation introduced door-to-door garbage assortment the use of auto tippers to make the cities blank and green. However, dumping of garbage and different waste at the roadside continues to be commonplace in most areas.
Before introducing the brand new gadget, HDMC remove the garbage packing containers. But other people still sell off garbage there with none worry of penalty and regularly, garbage packing containers have also reappeared.
When Radhabai Safare and Dr Pandurang Patil were mayors, they succeeded in disposing of packing containers and enforcing garbage assortment via pushcarts and disposal via tractors. But, though auto tippers had been deployed, other people sell off garbage by the roadside.
Mayor Sudhir Saraf said door-to-door garbage assortment has been hampered by loss of ok auto tippers. Currently, 176 are in use however 20 extra are required. “Once all auto tippers and composting stations start running, then garbage dumping on roadsides will also be curbed,” he said.
In the absence of composting stations, auto tippers now cross to Karwar Road garbage yard to dump garbage. If once composting stations start functioning, then garbage assortment from doors will turn out to be simpler, he added.
Shakil Ahmad, commissioner, HDMC, said, “There is a shortage of car tippers however we’ll meet the requirement in every other month. After that, dumping garbage on roadsides will also be checked and we will be able to duvet all properties.”
Laxmikant Desur, resident of Uday Nagar, said garbage disposal is deficient in the space. “In the absence of proper assortment gadget, other people throw garbage at the roadside and packing containers had been introduced back,” he said.
