Tamil Nadu CM opens memorial for farmer leader

COIMBATORE: Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday inaugurated a memorial built to honour farmer leader C Narayanasamy at Vaiyampalayam.

The memorial is built at a value of Rs 1.75 crore. Former leader minister J Jayalalithaa had introduced in the meeting on February 2016 concerning the construction of the memorial.


Narayanasamy was some of the pioneers in organizing farmers’ movement in western Tamil Nadu.


Narayanasamy had organized farmers protests tough welfare for farmers reminiscent of free electrical energy.


Palaniswami also laid foundation stones for the new auditorium and library to be built by the publics works department (PWD) on the Coimbatore Government Law College on Maruthamalai Road, at a value of Rs10.16crore, workplace buildings to be built at a value of Rs3.55crore on the Industrial Training Institute campus, Kavundamalayam, and a new workplace building on the campus of the Sarkarsamakulam union the town panchayat workplace.
