Vehicle carrying ‘God rock’ stuck for 3 days

CHENNAI: Nearly 60 days after the gigantic god rock, weighing around 300 tonnes, transported in a 240 tyres trailer from Korakkottai village in Tiruvannamalai to its destination on the outskirt of Bengaluru, it was caught in the newly shaped mud street across Markandeya River in Kurubarapalli, 15 kms from Krishnagiri Town, for the last three days.

The huge idol was moved from Korakkottai by way of the management of Kothandaramaswami Charitable Trust in Bengaluru on December 7. It took 55 days to enter Krishnagiri district close to Singarapatti from its Korakkotai village. “It entered the district on January 16 and go via a number of kms, it reached Markandeya River on January 31. The personal company took four to five days to shape the road on the riverbed. Though they lined two-third of the mud street, it was struck in the mud street for the last three days,” mentioned a police officer.

The Mumbai primarily based logistic company that was tasked to move the monolithic used 5 pullers, every 520 HP, the trailer was caught because the mud street offers up. “The street ahead is tougher because it has to go via two bridges. They need to go Shoolagiri and Perandapalli space. Since there is water glide in Thenpennai River, they have to ply on the bridge. It will probably be tough,” mentioned the supply.

The authorities of the NHAI categorically denied permission to move the huge idol on the bridge along the Kanyakumari-Srinagar national highway 44 stating that it was unsafe. “The long trailer and the idol, put in combination, are weighing around 450 tonnes. It is double than the authorised degree of vehicle allowed passing throughout the bridge,” mentioned the supply.

Hence, the management of the charitable Trust in Bengaluru engaged its workforce to shape a dirt street to move the distance to enter the NH. However, the duty of transporting the god rock is getting harder by way of every passing day. “So a long way, the trailer crossed 300 kms. We are taking efforts duvet up the remaining distance soon,” Dr Sadananda, who has been seeking to erect a 108 feet tall idol of Maha Vishnu, mentioned.
