18-year-old held for raping minor girl in UP

BAREILLY: Police arrested Mohammad Qasim from his area on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old lady. Qasim is a local of Azam Nagar locality underneath Kotwali police station.

According to the police, the 18-year-old accused met the lady near a non secular position from where he took her to his area and raped her. The lady then narrated her ordeal to her father.


Baradari police station area officer (SHO), Krishna Veer Singh, said, “The lady’s mother has been sick for a while. So, a relative urged her to consult with Shahdana Wali dargah.”


The lady met Qasim, who was also on the non secular position, on Tuesday morning. He promised her mutton biryani after which lured her to his area and allegedly raped her.


An FIR has been lodged towards the accused underneath phase 376 (rape) and POCSO Act after her father’s grievance. The lady was sent to district sanatorium for scientific examination. “The accused has been sent to jail,” Singh added.
