AIMIM to stay out of poll fray in Thane and Kalyan

THANE: The third front coalition of Prakash Ambedkar and Asaduddin Owaisi won't box any candidate in the Thane Lok Sabha constituency, in spite of a sizeable presence of the dalit and Muslim voters in the suburban townships extending from Thane-Mira Road.
The two leaders forged a pre-poll alliance final month and calling it a Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) and rejected the overtures of the Congress-NCP to team up with them. However, the VBA is thinking about to contest the Kalyan Lok Sabha seat and is more likely to take announce is candidate in the next two days.

The VBA’s resolution to stick out of the ballot fray in Thane Lok Sabha, however, has raised eyebrows and can result in a straight fight between the Sena’s Rajan Vichare and NCPs Anand Pranjpe.

TOI spoke to AIMIM MLA from Aurangabad, Imityaz Jaleel, who said the occasion won't contest in Thane and Kalyan parliamentary seats and can post simplest two applicants in Mumbai South and Aurangabad.

The AIMIM functionary in Mumbra Rauf Lala said regardless that his occasion was no longer contesting the Thane and Kalyan Lok Sabha seat, they'd fortify the candidate given by the Ambedkar faction for Kalyan constituency.

“Our party-bearers have clearly given us the message that they will need to fortify the Vanchit nominee and thus we will indubitably show our energy then as in TMC elections we had just about 30,000 votes,” said Lala.

A political observer said Babaji Patil, the NCP candidate from Kalyan Lok Sabha, is banking at the local Agri-Koli voters as he belongs to the same community. However, doubts persist inside the NCP about his appeal to voters in the urban segments of Kalyan-Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath amongst others.
