Councillor wants VNSGU senate meet cancelled

Surat: Congress municipal councillor and senator at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) Bhavesh Rabari on Tuesday approached the election commission in the hunt for cancellation of the university senate meeting scheduled on Wednesday.

Rabari has written to VNSGU, central and state election officers and has met district election officer (DEO) Dhaval Patel in the hunt for cancellation of the meeting. He has argued that DEOs in different districts like Anand and Rajkot has no longer allowed native universities to hold senate meeting when the fashion code of conduct was once in pressure.

“Sardar Patel University and Saurashtra University had been denied permission through district election officers as a result of fashion code of conduct. As in keeping with the agenda of meeting, the budget of Rs 342 crore has to be approved through the senate which is composed new tasks and fiscal allocations. It is apparent violation of code of conduct,” Rabari advised TOI.

He expressed worry that government gained’t allow dialogue on different essential issues citing code of conduct.
