PUNE: A team of medical doctors at a town medical institution performed complicated corrective surgical procedures on a day-old child boy born with multiple delivery defects on February 1 and succeeded in saving his existence.

Instead of being separate, the newborn’s wind and food pipes had been connected, placing him at higher risk of creating deadly lung headaches. Besides, the newborn also had uncommon illness of center where the connection between the aorta and pulmonary artery remained open after delivery, instead of closing as it must.


The child was born through a C-section at Columbia Asia Hospital in Kharadi on February 1 and weighed 2.5kg. “However, he showed excessive frothing and respiration distress, due to which he was shifted to the medical institution’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” the treating medical doctors mentioned.
