Garment unit VP held for stealing Rs 27L clothes

BENGALURU: A 42-year-old vice-president of a Doddaballapura garment manufacturing facility was arrested for allegedly stealing readymade garments price Rs 27 lakh from his workplace and selling them at a inexpensive price.


Ravi Kumar V from Singanalluru in Tamil Nadu and vice-president of Sanvi Industries sold garments for Rs 6 lakh to a store owner recognized to him. Ravi, an MBA graduate, had labored in Canada, Japan and Singapore before joining the Doddaballpura manufacturing facility eight months in the past.


On March 15, a grievance was lodged by way of the executive officer of the unit after around 70 boxes of readymade garments, which were dispatched to Haryana but returned for some explanation why, went lacking. They have been kept within the manufacturing facility godown. Spot investigation indicated an insider's role as there was no signal of forceful entry.


CCTV photos showed two contract workers of the unit transferring boxes from the godown to a car. They informed police officers that that they had acted on instructions from Ravi. Upon wondering, Ravi confessed that he was short of money and determined to sell the garments. Later, the garments have been recovered from a store owned by way of Muthu Kumaraswamy in Doddaballapura.
