VADODARA: Special Operations Group (SOG) sleuths on Tuesday busted a fake visa racket and arrested two individuals. The accused duo is claimed to have cheated over 150 individuals from around the state to the song of about Rs 2.five crore. The police mentioned that it is yet to arrest any other key accused who is founded in Delhi.
According to the police, one of the vital accused Mahesh Rabari had began a travel consultancy agency within the town. “People used to approach him for visa to Canada. The number one concept of the candidates used to be to succeed in Canada and then get some paintings there. Rabari used to promise them Canada’s visa and fee Rs 25,000 against the processing charges that had been non-refundable,” mentioned HM Chauhan, police inspector, SOG.
Mahesh gave the visa paintings to Ahmedabad-based Chirag Bhatt who had roped in Vikas Sharma, a resident of Delhi. “After taking passports of the candidates, Mahesh used to contact them after some time. He used to put digital travel authorization (ETA) stickers at the passports and gave them to the candidates. Mahesh used to tell the candidates that they can travel to Canada on ETA,” Chauhan informed TOI.
The candidates had been then asked to cough up Rs 2 to Rs five lakh for the ETA. However, one of the most candidates grew suspicious and contacted the Canada embassy. “The embassy informed them that Indians aren't eligible to travel to Canada on ETA. The candidates learned that they have been duped,” Chauhan added.
The victims approached the cops who started investigations and raided Mahesh’s travel agency. Interrogation of Mahesh printed that Sharma used to offer the ETA stickers. “So a long way, 150 individuals have been duped via the accused but many extra report complaint in long term. We will now observe down Sharma who supplied fake ETA stickers,” Chauhan mentioned.
