HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Regional Passport Office persevered to retain its most sensible position amongst all passport offices in the nation on issuing of ‘police clearance certificates’ (PCCs) to the passport applicants in a short while. “For the past 3 years, we are continuing the same file in issuing of PCCs, which is within 3/four days,” said Regional Passport Officer, Telangana, E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy.
Addressing the mediaat Dak Sadan, Abids, Reddy said, “The nationwide moderate for issuing of police clearance certificates is 19 days, however Telangana has topped amongst other passport offices in the nation in issuing of PCCs beneath one week. In order to supply higher passport services to the needy people, each Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and India Post, finished the objective of opening of 14 ‘put up administrative center passport seva kendras’ (POPSKs) in Telangana within two years, said Reddy.
In the first phase, two POPSKs at Mahabubnagar and Hanamkonda, have been opened and concurrently, 5 POPSKs at Khammam, Siddipet, Adialabad, Nalgonda and Medak in 2nd phase and every other seven POPSKs at Bhongiri, Mahabubabad, Kamareddy, Medchal and Wanaparthy, Vikarabad and Mancherial, opened for applicants, said Chief Postmaster General, Telangana Circle, Brig Chandra Sekhar.
With the launching of 14 POPSKs, MEA and Indian Post, authorities said they have covered all 17 Parliament constituencies in Telangana.
Regarding the passport transactions in these POPSKs, the RPO said, up to January 2019, a total of 62,271 applications for recent passports and renewal have been received and of them, 60,000 have been issued and 271 are pending for more than a few reasons.
