Illegally stocked crackers blow up in Azamgarh, 4 dead

Varanasi: At least 4 persons were killed and 12 critically injured after illegally stocked crackers exploded in densely-populated Mukeriganj space beneath City Kotwali police station in Azamgarh district on Sunday night.
SP Azamgarh Triveni Singh stated 4 people were declared brought useless on the district clinic, whilst 12 others were in a important condition.

The hearth, studies stated, was once prompted from the spark of the continued welding paintings in house of 1 Khiladi Gupta, who had illegally stocked crackers within the premises.

On being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot and began rescue operation.

In no time, the fire spread to adjoining structures earlier than being put out through firefighters. Chaos prevailed as people ran helter-skelter in search of refuge at nearby places. Thick smoke billowing out from the windows worsened the situation.


The rescue crew rushed all of the injured persons to the clinic. District magistrate Shivakant Dwivedi and SP Triveni Singh also also reached the spot.


Dwivedi stated Khiladi and his brother Shambhunath Gupta have structures within the space and run shops at the ground ground. Shambhunath has the license of fireworks trading. However, Khiladi, who runs a common service provider store, had stocked crackers in large amount, the DM stated.


He stated 4 persons, together with a girl, were killed within the incident.
