THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crime department will probe allegations of monetary irregularities in the United Nurses Association (UNA). State police leader Loknath Behera said the costs involved huge sums of cash and a state-wide probe was required.
The probe has been ordered on the foundation of a petition from association former vice-president Sibi Mukesh, alleging siphoning of around Rs three.50 crore from the association's checking account by means of a section of office-bearers and others. The petitioner has sought a probe into monetary transactions of the association between April 2017 and January 31 this year.

State police leader Loknath Behera has ordered a criminal offense department probe into the alleged monetary irregularities in the United Nurses Association (UNA).
Behera said that a crime department probe has been ordered because the allegations contain huge sums of cash and a statewide probe could be required for probing the grievance in regards to the topic.
The probe has been ordered on the foundation of a petition by means of former vice-president of the association Sibi Mukesh. The petitioner sought a probe into the monetary transactions of the association between April 2017 and January 31this year.
In the petition, Sibi Mukesh alleged that the organisation’s checking account in Thrissur had gained Rs three.71 crore from April 2017 till January 19, this year, but the steadiness in the account on January 31 is only Rs 8, 55, 408. He alleged that whilst Rs 1.40 crore has been withdrawn via cheque and bank transfers for functions like organisational paintings, workplace rent, paying price to the advocates, paying levy to the nurses whilst they had been on strike and so on, some other Rs 2.20 crore has been siphoned off by means of a section of workplace bearers.
He said that several individuals who don't seem to be directly related with the organisation have withdrawn money from the account, even with out the verdict of the organisation. He said that the organisation has lost up to Rs three.50 crore, and in spite of that one of the vital workplace bearers have demanded that a detailed account remark be given, no action has been taken on it but.
