Kurudampalayam panchayat secretary arrested for bribery

Coimbatore: The sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday arrested the secretary of Kurudampalayam village panchayat whilst accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 to regularise a house website online at Kurudampalayam. The officers also arrested two ladies, who had been working within the panchayat place of work on consolidated pay, for aiding the secretary.

The arrested other people had been recognized as M Prakash of Chinna Thadagam, Indhumathi and Dhanalakshi. Prakash had appointed the women for accumulate bribe from other people, a DVAC officer mentioned.


“S Vinodhkumar of Dhandapani Nagar at Kurudampalayam had approached Prakash to regularise his house website online. Prakash demanded Rs 2,000 to regularise the unapproved website online. After numerous bargaining, he finally agreed to do it for Rs 1,000. Meanwhile, Vinodhkumar approached DVAC deputy superintendent of police Rajesh, who laid a entice,” the officer mentioned.


“According to the plan, Vinodhkumar arrived at the panchayat place of work on Thursday around 4.15pm and handed over Rs 1,000 forex notes laced with phenolphthalein powder to Prakash. Immediately, a crew of DVAC sleuths stuck Prakash red-handed and arrested him. The sleuths also seized Rs 64,070 in cash from Prakash. The two ladies had been arrested for amassing bribe for regularising housing sites,” the officer added.
