Man held for growing poppy in Ambala village

AMBALA: The Naggal police have booked a resident of village Jandheri for allegedly growing poppy at his assets in village Jandheri of the district. The law enforcement officials won the tip-off concerning the plantation of poppy at village Jandheri following which a raid was once carried out on the spot and 302 totally grown poppy plants have been recovered.

The accused has been known as Balbir Singh and has been booked for growing poppy at his assets with none permit or license. The district police also discovered that the accused had marked cuts at the buds of the poppy flower to extract fresh opium from the plants.


On Wednesday, at the grievance of a police reputable, a case under Sections 18/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused Balbir at Naggal police station.


As consistent with the First Information Report (FIR), the cop mentioned, “We won the tip-off that the accused Balbir has planted poppy in a hidden way in the back of a wall of bricks with none permission at his assets in village Jandheri. Acting as consistent with the tip-off, the senior officers have been informed and the entire related due procedures have been followed to conduct a raid on the involved assets. During the raid, the team discovered poppy planted on the assets. Upon counting the plants, a total of 302 poppy plants have been recovered from the valuables they usually have been uprooted and taken into the custody. The general weight of the plants is eight.5 kg. When the accused Balbir was once asked to offer any permit or license for planting the contraband, he failed to offer any related report following which he was once taken into custody. The accused had also marked cuts at the flower buds of poppy to extract opium from them.”


DSP Headquarter Ambala Sultan Singh mentioned, “I visited the spot together with the teams and recovered 302 poppy plants weighing eight.5 kg from the valuables of the accused Balbir who was once arrested on Wednesday in the evening and on Thursday he was once offered prior to the courtroom which has despatched him to judicial custody for 14-days. After registering a case under related law further investigation is being finished.”
