PUNE: As many as 25 students of Amanora School in Hadapsar were issued transfer certificates on Wednesday over non-payment of charges, triggering a protest of parents in opposition to the institution’s control.
The faculty control known 278 students from Nursery to Standard IX, whose charges were due. It despatched transfer certificates to the oldsters of 25 of those students via courier on Wednesday.
“The control determined to take away the students after giving their parents a large number of alternatives to deposit the fees prior to the educational year ended. We have got rid of 25 students. More students will be got rid of in the days to come back. They will be reinstated if their charges are deposited,” said Sunil Tarte, the vice-president of Amanora Township, which runs the CBSE-affiliated faculty.
A lot of parents on Wednesday introduced an agitation outdoor the college after the news unfold that the institution had started taking motion in opposition to the students for not paying the fees. They submitted a grievance utility at the Hadapsar police station in opposition to the college control, claiming that it cannot take away students under Section 16 of the Right to Education Act. They also threatened to move on an indefinite starvation strike and record a petition in Bombay prime court if the students weren't reinstated.
Senior inspector Sunil Tambe, the Hadapsar police station in-charge, said, “We cannot take cognisance of the oldsters’ grievance as the issue is related to the training division. Its officials will have to glance into it.”
Sonali Kodre, one of the most agitating parents, said, “As consistent with the RTE Act, students up to Standard VIII can't be got rid of from a school. The drastic motion taken through the college is prohibited. The faculty increased the fees to Rs85,000 for the educational year 2018-19. There isn't any equity and transparency in it. On March 1, we met the training minister and mentioned the fees hike issue. The minister sought time to study the matter and take a decision, which might be binding on the parents and the college. But prior to the decision used to be taken, the students were got rid of.”
Another parent, Dhiraj Gedam, said, “We have deposited Rs49,950, but the faculty is calling Rs35,000 more. It is not appropriate. We were asked to make an extra price of Rs12,000 and Rs15,000 for extra-curricular activities and annual charges, which is not refundable. This is capitation price and we are hostile to it. We need the college to take back the students.”
