MTPS alleges poor quality coal by BCCL

Dhanbad: The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has sent over 30 proceedings in fresh months to Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) over the quality of coal equipped through the latter. Sources in the DVC say that the cost of production has higher considerably as a result of the inferior high quality of coal.

An engineer with the DVC, on situation of anonymity, stated, “The corporate has deployed extra manpower to segregate boulders present in the coal. But stones and boulders still cross into boiler and impact combustion. Huge amount of oil is needed in this type of state of affairs to continue the combustion procedure. The use of additional team of workers and oil damages the monetary well being of the corporate. In spite of several proceedings and meetings there was no alternate in the high quality of coal.”

A grievance sent through Mejia Thermal Power Station (a DVC unit) to the overall manager (high quality) of BCCL on February 25, a duplicate of the grievance is with TOI, said all wagons contained oversize boulders and stones. The rake sent from SGK siding of BCCL was once loaded with stones for which a vital amount of demurrage fee has been paid. Public Relation Officer of DVC, Deo Shanker Sahay, stated, “I have come across proceedings referring to coal high quality. In case of such problems, our energy units correspond with coal firms to solve the issue.”

BCCL government claimed that they overwhelm coal prior to sending it. Rahul Ranjan, the executive of SGK siding of BCCL, stated, “We overwhelm coal prior to loading and ensure that stones or boulders are not present in the consignment. The proceedings referring to us sending poor high quality coal are not true.”
