Odisha assembly polls: Scam acccused Pravata Tripathy offers not to contest

BHUBANESWAR: BJD’s Banki MLA Pravata Kumar Tripathy, an accused within the chit fund rip-off, has determined not to battle the impending meeting polls.

The Banki legislator has communicated his decision to BJD president and leader minister Naveen Patnaik in a letter.

“In view of the case filed in opposition to me via the ulterior political cause and design of BJP which is in trial stage, I be offering myself not to contest the approaching general election, extending my beef up to you to pave the way in which for value based politics,” Tripathy noted in his letter.

Tripathy, a four-time legislator, additionally presented to paintings for birthday celebration’s organisational actions and election marketing campaign all the way through the election.


The Banki legislator was arrested via the CBI in October 2014 for his alleged involvement within the multi-thousand crore chit fund rip-off related to Artha Tatwa corporate. He was later granted bail via the Orissa prime court in March 2015.


Though BJD had suspended Tripathy after he was arrested, it was revoked in November 2017 after the Supreme Court rejected a CBI petition difficult bail aid granted to him via the Orissa prime court.


The Banki MLA, within the letter, blamed BJP for implicating him deliberately in a coupon fund rip-off. The BJP, alternatively, rubbished Tripathy’s fees.


According to resources, BJD might field Tripathy’s son from Banki within the impending meeting election.
