Palamu DC features in poll awareness rap video

Daltonganj: Palamu deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Shantanu Kumar Agrahari on Tuesday released a one-minute rap tune as part of an election awareness marketing campaign to attract the first time citizens. Agrahari also options within the video which asks citizens from Palamu to workout their franchise.

Talking to TOI, Agrahari mentioned: “It took us around 24 hours to organize and report the tune. The lyrics are motivational and urges citizens to participate within the Lok Sabha elections which shall be held right here on April 29.”


Written and performed in Hindi, the tune makes use of the hook “Tu sochta hai kya, Tu dekhta hai kya (What are you thinking, what are you observing)” with an old-school hip hop rhythm operating within the background. “The tune can simply be converted into a Bhojpuri model. Since Palamu has a lot of audio system of the language, we will be translating it quickly,” Agrahari mentioned.


Palamu resident Prem Prakash, who heard the tune, mentioned: “The tune is apt to capture the attention of youngsters and first-time citizens like us.”


Agrahari added that the district could have 1,801 polling booths this year, which is 35% more than the 2014 common elections. Six out of those are auxiliary booths, the permission for which continues to be awaited. “I am confident that the Election Commission will let us function auxiliary booths at six places as they all can reduce the load on the number one booths by means of around 1,400 citizens. It will make conducting the election an more straightforward procedure,” he added.
