Ramakrishna Mission carries out swachhata abhiyan in Attavar area of Mangaluru

MANGALURU: The 17th shramadan of the 5th section of Ramakrishna Mission’s swachhata abhiyan used to be carried out in Attavar space on Sunday. Jagadish Shetty, yoga instructor and Ramya Shetty of SDM College of Management jointly flagged off the drive. Jagadish said, “Nature is supporting the entire human race. But because of selfish greed of humans, guy is ruining this very nature. This Abhiyan is awakening men to the importance of nature,” he said.


Volunteers formed other teams after the flag off. Road main in opposition to S Madhusudan Kushe School used to be wiped clean and volunteers removed lots of dust mendacity through the side of the street for years used to be removed using earth excavating device along side grime and rubbish, previous and unused motor cars, overgrown weeds and grass. Students of SDM College of Management took up cleanliness work in Ananda Shetty Circle.


A park used by senior citizens used to be in dilapidated. Volunteers wiped clean the park and removed the grime and weeds in the park. Another staff wiped clean street through the side of Chakrapani Temple and wiped clean a black spot there, placed pots with flowering plants and beautified it. Another staff of volunteers visited hundreds of homes in Attavara space and distributed consciousness handbills. Dilraj Alva, Souraj, Kodange Balakishna Naik and others took section.


Concluding programme of Swachh soch seminars initiated three months earlier than as an offshoot of Swachh Bharath abhiyan used to be held in Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management at Adyar on March 27. Swami Jitakamananda, adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math presided over the programme and Manjunath Bhandary, chairman of Sahyadri Foundation that manages the school, used to be the executive Guest. S S Balakrishna, faculty used to be particular invitee.


Swami Jitakamananda said, “Awakening younger minds to significance of cleanliness is the desire of the hour and hence the Mission deliberate to organise 50 seminars addressing the children about significance of waste segregation and managing household waste.” Manjunath Bhandary said, “Swachhata Abhiyan has played an important role in instilling a sense of patriotism and social concern in the kids.”
