VADODARA: The detection of crime department (DCB) sleuths busted a gang of thieves that had been fascinated with 25 other crimes in various districts across the state. The Devipujak gang was once nabbed when 4 of its contributors have been travelling in an auto-rickshaw on their solution to dedicate some other crime. The police said that they intercepted the accused on the Bhimnath bridge on Saturday after getting a tip off about their actions.
“We got details about the gang and puzzled them about their background following which they admitted to have dedicated a minimum of 25 crimes of stealing valuables and pickpocketing,” said Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime).
The accused have been known as Jagdish Dantani, resident of Kheda, Karan Solanki, resident of Surat, Mukesh Solanki and Hitesh Chudasama, both residents of Gir-Somnath. The police said that the gang used to thieve passengers who boarded their auto. “One member drove the car, while the opposite three would sit in the back of as passengers. They used to target and solicit aged individuals or girls to travel of their auto on sharing basis,” Jadeja informed IdealNews while explaining the gang’s modus operandi.
After the passenger sat in the auto, one member will ask the individual to put their belongings in the back of the seat and divert their consideration, while one would thieve valuables. The gang, which also pickpocketed, dedicated crimes in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, Nadiad, Kheda and Anand.
