18 days on, Nashik woman held for abducting baby from CSMT

THANE: Over a fortnight after a baby was once abducted from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, he was once brought again to the city. A 35-year-old girl from Nashik has been arrested for allegedly abducting the infant. The girl, Neelam Bora, is married and has no children, said the railway police. The kid is in the custody of the railway police. His mother, who wanders around the railway premises, has now not been in town for a while, said the Thane town police.

The 2-month-old was once asleep with his mother on platform 8 on March 29 when the then unidentified girl scooped him up and vanished between 6am and 7am. Later, when the infant may now not be discovered, his mother approached the railway police.

Footage from cameras at the railway terminus printed that the lady had boarded an Asangaon-bound teach. She alighted at Mulund and walked out. Crime branch officials, who had been conducting a parallel probe, sifted via a lot of images and found that the lady again boarded an area teach, alighted at Kalyanfrom the place she went to Shirdi. "Later, she visited her maternal home in Sendwa in Madhya Pradesh. There, she told her parents that is was her child," said a police officer.

The police said they were given clues from technical and human resources which led them to Panchavati locality in Nashik on Sunday. "There, we found Bora with the baby," said the officer.

Bora married a transporter in 2009, said resources. The couple has no children. A senior police officer said they are probing as to what brought about Bora to abduct the homeless child.

Sources said Bora has told them that the lady, with whom the infant was once at the station, is not his mother. "We are probing the veracity of this claim," said a senior officer.

The police had been probing another abduction case of a 10-month-old, Salman Khan from Mumbra, who was once kidnapped in February this year by means of a lady in a black burqa. "So far, that kid has not been traced," said deputy commissioner of police (crime) Deepak Deoraj.
