CHENNAI: Star motels within the town is not going to serve liquor for three days subsequent week in view of the Lok Sabha elections on April 18.
In a press release right here, Chennai district collector A Shanmuga Sundharam stated that in exercise of the powers conferred in Rule 12 of the Tamil Nadu Liquor Retail Vending (in shop and bars) Rules, 2003, and Rule II(a) of Tamil Nadu Liquor (License and Permit) Rules 1981, all of the Tasmac IMFL retail vending outlets and connected bars, FL2 to FL11 (aside from FL6) licensed bars in Chennai district shall stay closed from 10.00am on April 16 to 12.00 midnight on April 18. The similar is implemented for the counting day on May 23, as neatly.
"There shall be no sale of liquor on these days. If any violation of the provision is noticed, necessary action will be taken as per rules," the collector added.
