Indian Panorama jury votes in S Durga's favour

PANAJI: With just 3 hours to go for the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to near, the festival organisers are yet to announce screening main points of the arguable film S Durga. The jury on Monday night time voted 7:four in favour of the film's screening at IFFI, yet IFFI organisers stay mum on their intentions to go forward with the screening.
Satish Kaushik, Sudhir Chaudhary, Vivek Agnihotri, and jury chairman Rahul Rawail voted against the film's screening, whilst the rest voted in its favour, in step with sources.

Kaushik and Sudhir Chaudhary are some of the new contributors appointed to the jury, with none announcement. They were appointed within the position of the contributors who had resigned in protest over the withdrawal of S Durga from the Indian Panorama segment via the Union knowledge and broadcasting (I&B) ministry.

On Saturday night time, the jury remained locked throughout the screening room more than four hours after the screening of S Durga was once over for the jury. The film's director Sanalkumar Sasidharan and male lead Kannan Nayar waited in anticipation all over this time outside the screening facility.

Festival director Sunit Tandon has refused to remark although he was once throughout the screening room with the jury contributors for four hours.

After the I&B ministry determined to withdraw S Durga from the Indian Panorama segment, regardless of the jury settling on the film, the film's director Sasidharan petitioned the Kerala top court, which requested the ministry to screen the film at IFFI after showing the qualified model to the jury.

And accordingly the jury watched the film, surrounded via security personnel to block out mediapersons, on Monday night.
