BHUBANESWAR: Students of Ramadevi Women’s University, first girls’s university within the state, on Monday called off their stir demanding instant collection of land for 2nd campus of the university and withdrawal of the verdict to abolish educating posts of erstwhile Ramadevi Women’s Autonomous College.
Soubhagya Soumyashree Samal, president of university scholars’ union, advised media within the night time after protecting a discussion with the senior officers of the higher schooling department. “The officers confident us to appear into the topic via discussing with other stakeholders. If they do not satisfy our calls for, we will once more stage protest on these problems,” she added.
Earlier within the day, the students locked down university gate shouting slogans towards the higher schooling department for abolishing the RD girls’s faculty. Later they blocked Vani Vihar-Master Canteen highway flaunting placards. “The university has 46 affiliated faculties after it became university in 2015. What obstructed the federal government to abolish a well-known independent faculty of the state,” said Samal. She said the federal government can deliver the varsity into the jurisdiction of the university without abolishing it.
On 2nd campus issue, scholars said the state executive can not find an acceptable land for 2nd campus of the university throughout ultimate two and a part years. “Due to this problem, our university can not grasp sports meet, trendy laboratories and analysis centres,” said a student. An officer of additional secretary rank in upper schooling department said the state executive will finalize a land very soon. On the abolition of posts of the independent faculty, he said the department is thinking about the proposal.
On Friday, lecturers of the university had staged dharna in front of registrar’s place of work here protesting abolition of 71 educating posts of erstwhile Ramadevi Women’s Autonomous College. Students had also supported the demand of the lecturers and torched tyres in front of the university gate opposing the abolition of the educating posts.
