CHENNAI: RK Nagar is no more a major minister's constituency, but it does have a consultant within the state meeting. However, 3 months after electing T T V Dhinakaran, residents right here do not think the euphoria has returned. "That (euphoria) died with Amma (Jayalalithaa). No one comes to RK Nagar now, not officials and not the man we put in the assembly," stated Rajamma*, a push cart dealer, quietly going about her business near the Tondiarpet taluk place of job.
The taluk place of job is itself a scene of forget. Less than two years in the past, the Tondiarpet tahsildar had an actual activity on his hand each Tuesday.
Soon after she assumed place of job in 2016, J Jayalalithaa introduced that an officer from the manager minister's particular cellular, accompanied through company officers, police body of workers and earnings personnel among others, would consult with the taluk place of job on Tuesdays and collect complaint petitions that have been to be taken care of out and complainants knowledgeable in their status through Friday.
These meetings stopped when Jayalalithaa was once hospitalised and the federal government (under O Panneerselvam initially and now under Edappadi Okay Palaniswami) noticed no necessity in resuming it. Dhinakaran's victory too has changed nothing.
"I don't know the reason (why it was stopped)," stated Murugesan, the Tondiarpet tahsildar. "But we hold Amma Thittam on Fridays where residents can drop petitions," he stated.
So, what has Dhinakaran accomplished for those who voted for him? Suresh Manickam of the Tamil Nadu Youth Party says the legislator hardly visits the constituency. "Since his election to assembly, I don't think he has met people and listened to their grievances," he stated.
Dhinakaran's birthday celebration employees disagree. "He (Dhinakaran) has come to RK Nagar several times," stated Madurai Muthu, on the MLA's place of job. "We receive at least 500 petitions a day which is forwarded to his Besant Nagar home." Asked to turn at least one petition, he stated a batch of 25 petitions had just moments previous been shipped to Besant Nagar on a two-wheeler.
"Nobody comes here (to the MLA office). Sometimes, Vetrivel makes a visit. Dhinakaran has come once or twice, not to collect petitions but for a victory march," stated an autorickshaw driving force asking for anonymity. Dhinakaran may just not be reached for remark.
