TN: Teen commits suicide over father’s alcoholism

TIRUNELVELI: A seventeen-year-old boy committed suicide via striking himself from a bridge in Tirunelveli on Wednesday morning as he was once disappointed over his father’s alcoholism.
Police recognized the deceased as M Dinesh Nallasivan, who had finished Class XII and had been making ready for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET). Dinesh was once the eldest of the 3 children of S Madasamy, a labourer in Kerala. His mom, Esakiammal, died nine years in the past, and his father married every other lady.

In a suicide word which police recovered from his bag, Dinesh requested his father not to perform the final rites and stated that his soul would rest in peace provided that his father gave up alcohol.

“Let us see if the manager minister closes down Tasmac liquor stores in Tamil Nadu. If not, my spirit will spoil the department stores,” the word written in Tamil stated.

Besides the suicide word, the bag contained a damaged mobile phone wrapped in a plastic duvet, his NEET exam hall price ticket and SSLC mark sheet.

The body was once sent to the Tirunelveli Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.

Police and income officers went to the boy’s area at Reddiapatti near Sankarankovil and carried out inquiries.

Dinesh’s brother, Esakiraj, is studying in Class VIII while his sister, Dhanushree, is a Class VII student.

After his mom’s demise, Dinesh was once introduced up via his paternal uncle Sankarakuthalam alias Mani in Madurai. His brother and sister lived with their stepmother of their native village.


Dinesh, who did his higher secondary schooling at a residential college in Namakkal, was once supposed to put in writing NEET on May 6.


Police said the boy informed his uncle that he was once going to his aunt’s area at Kayathar, in neighbouring Tuticorin district. He spoke to his father over the phone on Tuesday night and pleaded with him to give up alcohol. But the conversation ended in a sour word, resulting in the boy taking the extreme step.


Dinesh’s uncle, Sankarakuthalam, informed newshounds that his brother (Dinesh’s father) was once an alcoholic and that this led to frequent quarrels between the daddy and son. “He loved his dad and used to invite him to give up alcoholism, however his father did not. The boy had been trying hard for five years to stop him from eating alcohol,” Sankarakuthalam said.


Dinesh’s grandfather, Subbaiah, informed newshounds that the boy wished that his demise would alternate his father. “He was once a studious student. He wanted to become a doctor and had big goals,” he added.
