To address necessary factor of menstrual hygiene and create a way of ease amongst younger adolescent women for discussing this matter amongst themselves as well as inside their circle of relatives, the town authorities organised a unique orientation workshop titled ‘Asantu Katha Heba’ (Come, Let’s Talk), at the instance of the World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2018. The workshop held at BMC Conference corridor witnessed participation of over 100 adolescent women along side ASHA staff and officers of BSCL, BMC and volunteers of social organisation Humara Bachpan. Organised beneath Socially Smart Bhubaneswar initiative by way of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) in collaboration with UNFPA India, the workshop was geared toward developing awareness and educating adolescent women residing in urban areas mostly in slums on menstrual well being and hygiene, so that they learn about the secure and healthy practices for themselves as neatly can act as brokers of alternate by way of educating other women of their respective areas.
