Rioting reported in Vadodara's Nyay Mandir area

VADODARA: Communal clashes erupted close to Nyay Mandir in previous town house overdue on Saturday night during a procession to mark the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap. Police had to lob tear gas shells close to Dudhwala Mohalla in the house to disperse the mob.

According to police, when the procession was passing by means of Dudhwala Mohalla, some mischief monger pelted a stone on the procession. Within mins, the placement became unsightly as other people from the rally too started to pelt stones on the crowd there at the occasion of Eid. Mobs collected on all sides and the stone pelting persevered for some time. Several vehicles parked outside Nyay Mandir were damaged.


As the police learnt in regards to the scenario, it reached there in large numbers to contain the placement. Besides lobbing tear gas shells, police also resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the mob. However, the exact selection of tear gas shells lobbed was not identified.


The information of the clash soon spread in the walled town house on account of which people living in communally sensitive house of Yakutpura and Fatehpura got here out on roads. “People had collected on roads, but we managed the placement. There was no incident of stone pelting in those areas,” said joint commissioner of police, KG Bhati. He added that no individuals were injured in the clashes.


After the placement was introduced underneath the regulate, police remained deployed in the house in a large quantity to keep away from any aggravation of scenario.
