MYSURU: The shipping department will crack down on house owners and drivers — together with instructional institutions — of cars that ferry students to college and are found violating safety norms from July 1. The determination comes within the wake of Monday's coincidence in Nanjanagud through which 12 students sustained accidents and a van motive force died at the spot.
C T Murthy, joint commissioner, shipping, revealed special squads, led by way of two deputy shipping commissioners, will inspect faculty cars. "I have instructed the deputy transport commissioners to form squads and launch inspections," Murthy said.
