TU hosts brainstorming session on climate change

GUWAHATI: Vice-chancellors of public universities of northeastern states held a brainstorming consultation in Tezpur University (TU) on Friday to construct an integrated platform to deal with the challenges posed via local weather exchange. The discussions held on the consultation, with a special center of attention at the Himalayan ecosystem of northeastern area, is expected to be a prelude to the Vice Chancellors' Round Table and National Workshop to be held all over June 28-30 in New Delhi.

The consultation on Friday was once headed via Akhilesh Gupta, who heads each the Strategic Programmes, Large Initiatives and Coordinated Action Enabler (SPLICE) and the Climate Change Programme below the Centre's Department of Science and Technology (DST). The assembly was once attended via representatives and vice-chancellors of all central and state universities of northeastern states.


While giving an in depth presentation on India's fresh scientific discoveries, Gupta stated India's long run shall be structured via the universities. The jap part of the Himalayas has not been studied intensive, Gupta stated, adding, "I hope that the outcome of the session would crystalize the thrust areas of research relevant to the needs of the northeastern region."


TU vice-chancellor VK Jain stated the objective of the assembly was once to find ways of coping with local weather exchange and its implications for water assets, biological wealth (biodiversity), power security, meals security, tourism and sustainable livelihood of northeastern states. A regional local weather exchange tracking mechanism shall be of serious help to the northeast, he added.
