Sixth street at KK Pudur to get new road

COIMBATORE: Residents of K K Pudur on Tuesday morning heaved a sigh of reduction after city corporation officers landed up in their space with a road curler and tar. They have been petitioning the civic body for approximately one and part years to put the road in Manian Vellalar Street, also known as 6th street.

The road was dug up to lay the main pipeline for Siruvani water almost two years ago. “The corporation turns out to have after all decided to heed to our petitions,” says Sumathi K, a resident of Venkittapuram, who makes use of the road to skip the busy NSR Road to reach Mettupalayam Road.


“This is a important inside road utilized by residents of Jeeva Nagar and Venkittapuram to reach Kavundampalayam and Mettupalayam Road,” said former councillor of the realm K M Ravi. “Even mini buses take this road.”


Residents say the corporation had allotted finances for relaying the road even ahead of it was dug up for laying the pipeline. “However, it did not lay the road for more than a yr after the pipe-laying works had been completed,” said Vishnu S, a resident of the realm.


“I recently met MLA PRG Arun Kumar who agreed to put the road with MLA local finances. They put puja for the challenge almost a month ago but did not start the challenge,” Ravi said. “We started striking up posters about inactivity by way of officers, which almost certainly driven them to act.”
