KOLKATA: A fireplace broke out round 4.45am at a third-floor laboratory in Medical College Hospital Kolkata (MCHK) on Monday. Three hearth engines rushed to the spot and doused the flames before it could spread to other rooms. None was harm. On October 3, hearth engulfed the same development and patients had to be evacuated.

On Monsday, a fridge was gutted by means of the hearth. Fire officials suspect a fault in the fridge might have led to the hearth.

The hearth, on the other hand, created panic amongst patients and kinfolk as a portion of the third-floor has wards for patients.

“The hearth was controlled within mins. There was no primary harm or harm except some samples stored in the fridge. In reality, there was no want to evacuate patients as their wards are located clear of the hearth site,” stated an official at MCHK.

On October 3, patients from the same development had to be evacuated as a larger hearth broke in the sanatorium’s pharmacy retailer located at the floor surface. There was no casualty but medicine and consumables worth Rs five crore were broken by means of the hearth. The pharmacy is yet to begin functioning in complete capability.
