PUNE: The crime department of Pimpri police on Tuesday arrested a felony in reference to a four-year-old armed robbery case in Bhosari.
The police have recognized the suspect as Mujahid Ibrahim Auti (25) of Kuldeep Angan, Nehrunagar in Pimpri. The crime department (unit-I) of the Pimpri Chinchwad police led through inspector Uttam Tangade made the arrest.
The suspect and his 3 accomplices on January 27, 2015 had assaulted and robbed one Prakash Sawant of Thergaon on Telco Road. A case of armed robbery was once registered with the Bhosari MIDC police station.
The police had arrested 3 suspects Amar Chauhan of Pimpri, Rahim Chaudhari of Chinchwad and Prashant Thakur of Kalewadi. “But the suspect Auti was once at the run,” Tangade said.
He said that on Tuesday throughout the patrolling, police constable Sunil Chaudhri received a tip-off that Auti could be coming near Magar Stadium to fulfill an individual. “We laid a lure and took the suspect into custody,” Tangade said.
During the questioning, Auti has admitted his involvement within the armed robbery. “We have handed him over to the Bhosari MIDC police for the additional probe,” Tangade said.
